Tsui Hark
wrote and produced the first BLACK
MASK; this time he's also the director. The result· Well, the
original was a bit unconventional and - yes - loopy. But the sequel is
a no-hold-barred excursion into deep Hong Kong mania.
Even though
Black Mask has superhuman fighting and healing powers (through genetic
modification), he has lost his ability to feel emotions. His obsession
with reversing the mutation leads Black Mask to a mad scientist (Tobin
Bell from the SAW
movies) who is mixing the DNA of wrestlers with that of animals. As a
result, these professional wrestlers (including former porn-queen Traci
Lords) are transforming into deadly monsters and Black Mask feels the
obligation to help them.
