Legendary
British director Val Guest - probably best known for his SciFi "Quatermass"
films - delivered this savage expose of the music business in 1959. It
remains one of the quintiessential, hardboiled, kitschy explorations of
the Brit Beat pheonomenon. The story deals with a sleazy music agent who
trolls the neon-streaked sidewalks of London's Soho district in search
of fresh talent to exploit. He finds a bongo-playing teen who seems ripe
for the pop music world.
