It's the
story of a sad-eyed S&M prostitute named Ai and her search for happiness
amid a cesspool of affluent, morally corrupt clients. At one point, she
visits a fortune teller who tells her to "make a ring from a pink
stone and wear it on the middle finger" [thus the reason behind the
Japanese title "Topaz"]. Ai obeys blindly, immediately purchasing
a pink topaz. She is a simple girl merely looking for answers to life's
questions - whether it be a topaz ring or a whip session. Her quest for
true love becomes hopelessly confused with an underworld of sex, drugs
and violence.
