This film
is set in ancient China during the period of "Five Dynasties and
Ten Kingdoms" For a variety of reasons, the ruling factions lost
power and declined rapidly in Northern China while independent states
would vie with one another for control in the South. However, the entire
country was about to fall prey to the neighboring Khitan Empire, on the
prowl in Manchuria, ready to pounce on the weak Chinese political power
structure.
