"One
of the five best contemporary Japanese motion pictures
...arguably THE BEST of them all"
director:
Shunji Iwai
starring: Chara · Ayumi Ito · Hiroshi Mikami
Tomoroh Taguchi · Mickey Curtis · Andy Hui
This is
a parable about anarchy and violence in Yentown, a fantasized city in
the near future where people live a chaotic, dizzy existence. On the outskirts
of this city, prostitute Guriko (Chara) and her family of misfits stumble
upon a grisly surprise... an audio cassette of Frank Sintara's "My
Way" protruding from a dead gangster's stomach. Even more oddly,
they soon discover that the tape holds a digital code capable of tricking
ATM machines into "spitting out money." As Guriko and her buddies
get rich, blackmarket gangsters are plotting against them...
