Based on the
Japanese manga of the same name, OLD BOY is the tense story of revenge
between a man imprisoned for 15 years of his life in a makeshift jail
and the man responsible. This film has won numerous international awards,
including Best Pic at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
One day in 1988, an ordinary man named Oh Dae-soo (Choi) is kidnapped
while shopping for a birthday present for his 3 year old daughter. He
later wakes from a drug induced sleep to find himself imprisoned in a
small apartment. While trying to figure things out, Dae-soo turns on the
TV set and is shocked to learns that his wife has been brutally murdered...
So begins one of the best films from Asia.
Domestic release [from Tartan Films] of a Korean film; widescreen uncut (120 min.) version encoded
for REGION ONE, playable on any American DVD machine; in Korean language
with English subtitles. Plus lots of extras.
