PLATONIC
SEX is based on the autobiography by former "adult movie starlet"
Ai Iijima. In the story she vividly portrays a woman caught up in the
sleazy underbelly of Japan's porn industry.
The
movie opens with young Ai (Saki Kagami) getting gang-raped by some "friends"
on her 17th birthday. She soon finds that her parents are totally unsympathetic;
they have no concern for the girl but, rather, are only worried about
what the neighbors might think. Ai runs away and tries to live off the
streets, eventually finding success as a club girl. Soon, she's earning
substantial tips from middle-aged patrons and it's not long before Ai
takes the advice of her sleazy manager to enter the video porn business.
