This
is Kurosawa's timeless film of seven wandering samurai who come to the
aid of a poor farming town bullied by bandits. It's simply one of Japan's
greatest films. But that's common knowledge, right· Asakazu Nakai's cinematography
is breathtaking, especially the climatic telephot battle scene in the
rain and mud. The story, based on an orginal script by director Kurosawa
has since been used and abused hundreds of times. The most famous clone
is John Sturges' THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
