director:
Duccio Tessari
starring: Isaac Hayes · Lino Ventura · Fred Williamson
William Berger · Jess Hahn · Vittorio Sanipoli
Certainly,
one of the more unusual blaxploitation films of the '70s... as it was
produced in Italy under the title "Uomini Duri" and directed by Spaghetti
Western king Duccio Tessari (best known for his DAYS OF ANGER and RINGO
series). ·Funk musician wizard (and underrated actor) Isaac Hayes stars
as Lee, a framed ex-cop, who tries to clear his name by teaming up with
a vigilante priest named Charlie (Lino Ventura). Together they beat up
a lot of people while trying to uncover the facts surrounding a million
dollar bank heist. Eventually, their search leads them to Fred Williamson
in a rare "bad guy" role as Joe Snake. While set in "Chicago," the film
is very Italian. It has the feel and look of an Italian police flick,
i.e. lots of in-your-face action, seedy locales and lurid violence.
An Italian/American film; fullscreen, uncut (88 min.) version in DVD encoded for ALL REGIONS, playable on any American DVD machine; in English language.
