ABBY is legendary
for being the movie that nobody could see. Upon its release in 1974, powerful
Warner Bros Studio filed a plagiarism lawsuit against the film, demanding
that it be pulled from circulation because of a resemblance to EXORCIST.
As a result, distributor American International buried the movie; ABBY
completely disappeared. Now, thirty years later, this rare classic has
made its way onto DVD.
Director Girdler delivers the story of a marriage counselor (Speed) who
gets possessed by a Demon of Sexuality, after her Exorcist father-in-law
(Marshall) unleashed it in Africa. ·The renegade demon forces Abby
to abandon her Christian virtues and become a wanton slut, much to the
displeasure of her minister husband. The father-in-law soon returns home
and attempts to save Abby with a Nigerian exorcism.··All hell breaks
loose as a discotheque is turned into the ultimate battleground of good
versus evil.
