It's been
compared to BLADE RUNNER and FINAL FANTASY, but in truth this French film
is wholly original cinema from director/writer Enki Bilal. The first of
a quartet of films shot totally against a blue screen, with CGI elements
created later (the other three were Casshern, "Sky Captain and the
World of Tomorrow" and "Frank Miller's Sin City"), the
plot is demanding but the FX are extraordinary. ew York 2095. In a strange
pyramid floating in the sky, the gods of ancient Egypt are judging the
god of the sky, Horus. In the city below, a young women with blue hair
and tears is arrested, but she has a secret power, even to herself. Horus
is about to be executed by the High Judges but he's given seven days to
visit Earth for one last time, seemingly to impregnate a woman and continue
his legacy. Meanwhile, an escaped terrorist has become romantic with the
blue-haired woman and they call attention to Horus through their unconventional
relationship. The woman herself is under observation by the Government
Medical Union because she's undergoing mysterious body changes and has
a complete loss of past memories.
