Set
in the murky underworld of late-1960s Tokyo, the film begins as the police
are shutting down powerful yakuza gangs. One group refuses to be bullied
by the cops, and embarks on a perilous plan of taking full control of
Tokyo's illegal operations. Stylish and engaging, this early Yasuharu
Hasebe film contains all the elements that have made him one of world
cinema's most celebrated cult figures.
