This is an
epic Asian fantasy movie that thrilled Hong Kong audiences, making it
a huge boxoffice hit a couple years ago. Essentially, it's a "remake"
of ZU WARRIORS FROM MAGIC MOUNTAIN, but "rethinking" would be
a more descriptive tag. Legendary Tsui Hark, who also directed the original
1983 version, is back to helm this new masterpiece of visual delights.
Welcome
to a virtual fairyland of imagery. King Sky (Ekin Cheng) is the sole disciple
of the Kun Lun Sect who falls in love with his master (mistress·) Dawn
(Cecilia Cheung). But then, Dawn is killed when "Insomnia" destroys
the mountain population. King Sky waits for two hundred years and, finally,
meets Enigma, the reincarnated spirit of Dawn. But there's trouble abrew
as Insomnia is ready to destroy Zu clan once again.
