Here is Miike's first theatrical motion picture... and what an experience!
Like John Woo·s A BETTER TOMORROW, this one deals with two brothers who
find themselves on opposites sides of the law. Kiriya (Shinna) is a Chinese-born
cop in Tokyo·s corrupt Shinjuku district, while his brother (Takeshi)
is an attorney for the mob. It's a fairly basic yakuza plot, but Miike's
unflinching inclination toward sudden and horrific violence (think DEAD
OR ALIVE here) sets this film apart from the pack.
