A demented
artist (played by martial arts star Lo Lieh) kills young women and skins
them. He pours mercury into an incision on their foreheads, which allows
the epidermis to peel more easily. The skins, in turn, are used to create
beautiful, ornamental lanterns in the shape of the dead girls. This period
horror tale from the Shaw Bros is written by I Kuang, the author of many
"dark" Asian chillers including "Black Magic 2 Revenge of the Zombies"
and "The Seventh Curse".
