This outrageous
spoof from cult director Takashi Miike is actor Sho Aikawa's 100th movie.
And what a treat it is! A broad and adventurous salute to Japan's Superhero
genre. And it remains true to the promo catch-phrase: ANYTHING GOES!
Sho Aikawa
is Shin-ichi, a loser who tries to escape his humdrum life by dressing
in his "Zebraman" costume. Seemingly, the original Zebraman
was the hero of TV show canceled 34 years ago after only a handful of
episodes (think THE TICK, here). Today, Shin-ichi acts out his fantasy
wearing a homemade black-n-white Zebraman suit ("I am the one who
decides what is black and what it white!") while patrolling his city.
When a UFO crash-lands and the town is threatened by an evil crab-alien,
Shin-ichi realizes that he's the only thing that stands between a hostile
takeover and monster-free community.
