A writer retreats
to a secluded suburban house to work on her new novel. But her attention
is instead occupied by her archaeologist neighbors newly discovered
mummy and a ghostly presence in her house.
Directo Kurosawa once
again skilfully creates an atmosphere that plugs the saudience into a
mire of dread as he allows his story unfold. Old film footage, two decrepit
buildings and an impenetrable primal wilderness serve as the backdrop
for this suspense-filled thriller. But, interestingly for this venture,
Kurosawa takes a break from his familiar haunted Tokyo themes and
drags the audience into a haunted swamp.
