Here is story of Maria Fabiani, an 18 year-old college girl, arrested and tortured as a political activist in the radical Argentinean right-wing dictatorship of 1978. This film is set against the "dark age of South American" [in the late 70's and early 80's] when military extremists successfully initiated a coup d'état, toppling the governments of Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. During this horrific time hundreds-of-thousands civilians 'disappeared' in South America. In Argentina, the common practice was 'information-seeking' torture sessions inside converted underground garages, escalating into mass murders. The leftist prisoners were drugged, loaded onto military airplanes and dropped alive into the expansive sea.

Today, director Marco Bechis is considered one of South America's best arthouse filmmakers. But, at age 20, he was captured, imprisoned and tortured at the hands of the Argentinean military establishment. He managed to escape to Europe in 1979. He wrote this film with long time collaborator Lara Fremder. In this motion picture, Marco Bechis gives stark details about what actually happened in the torture cells of Buenos Aires where innocent people were subjugated to the horrendous physical suffering. This film has won 25 International awards, from Cannes to the Italian Golden Globes.

It has never been released in the United States.
