On a deserted remote island, a film crew is shooting'Supergirl vs the Alien Monster' when the manic director goes too far with explosives, releasing a giant monster from under the mountain. Film critic Adrian J Smith recently wrote: "MEGALANIA is one of the better monster movies to emerge from China in the last couple of years. The producers clearly spent more money on the CGI, there are a couple of effective jump scares, a suitably bombastic score [reminiscent of Godzilla] and non-stop action. Creature feature fans should definitely give this one a watch."

Li Yifan was a celebrated documentary filmmaker before turning his talents to the burgeoning arena of giant monsters. He was born in Wuhan China in 1966, graduating from Beijing's Central Academy of Drama in 1991. His documentary 'Before the Flood, Chronicle of Longwang: A Year in the Life of a Chinese Village' won several international awards including the Wolfgang Staudte Award at the International Forum of Berlinale and the Robert and Frances Flaherty Prize of the YIDFF of Japan.
