In a polluted mangrove swamp, the locals

and themselves inside the isolated community. Now, the swamp is dead.
The people can hardly find a fish or a crab in the dirty toxic water.
One night, dead bodies rise from the swamp, attacking and biting the poor
dwellers who then also transform into flesh-hungry zombies. Luis fights
against the monsters to survive and save the life of his girlfriend Raquel,
This
is the very first zombie movie from Brazil. The director is Rodrigo Aragao.
He has since become the major driving force for horror cinema in that

productions of the '70s and '80s [and of course, George Romero's groundbreaking
masterpiece DAWN
OF THE DEAD]. This debut project was followed by Noite Do Chupacabras
[Night of the Chupacabras] in 2011 and Mar Negro [Dark Sea] (2013).
