A group of scientists conduct an expedition to find a tree that
- according to Buddhist legend - bears a fruit [shaped like a young girl]
capable of curing any disease. But several unscrupulous guides plan to
murder everyone in the safari and steal the fruit for themselves. However,
the tree is guarded by demonic spirits with a thirst for sex and blood.
This
is the debut project for filmmaker Vichian Ta-in. He had been working
as assistant director and scriptwriter to Komsan Treepong (HEADLESS).
This is also the first production for most of the cast members. Pemanee
Sungkorn would make LONG
WEEKEND a few years later. The movie takes the question of 'nudity'
in mainstream Thai cinema to a new level [virtually nonexistent previously]
and - as a result - it has been the target for numerous government censorship
busts.
