original Indonesian title: AIR TERJUN PENGANTN: PHUKET [Waterfall
of Pengantin: Phuket]
also known as WATERFALL OF PENGANTIN (SEQUEL) and WATERFALL
OF PENGANTIN 2
This sequel to
WATERFALL
OF PENGANTIN picks up four years later. Tiara has physically
recovered from her horrific confrontation on the island - where all
her friends were slaughtered [including boyfriend Lilo] before she
managed to kill the savage|cannibal responsible - but emotionally,
Tiara is still haunted by the event. She relocates to the United States,
where she's been hitting the gym, working out and, today, Tiara is
a fighter on the World Mixed Martial Arts circuit. When she has a
fight scheduled near Indonesia, on the island of Phukit (off the coast
of Thailand), she contacts some old friends and they arrange a weekend
get-together. After the competition [which she wins, of course], Tiara
meets Alan - the brother of her old boyfriend - and they immediately
bond. A sailing excursion planned for the next day turns disastrous
as Tiara and her group get lured back to Pengantin where the family
of cannibals are anxious to finally avenge the death of their brother.
Usually sequels
don't deliver the level of quality promised by the original. But this
time - with the same star [the exquisite Tamara Blezinski], the same
production company, same writer and same director [the shockingly
good Rizal Mantovani] - here is another exceptional movie. But for
those who haven't seen the first one, don't jump right into the sequel.
For maximum fun, watch them back-to-back.
