- STARRING - - If you like director Corey Yuen's balletic bloodshed, more
recently demonstrated in So Close and Twins Effect 2 (see interview with
Corey Yuen in Asian Cult Cinema issue #45), then it's time to take a look
at one of his earlier projects. This Jet Li actioner is a great place
to start. A corrupt HK businessman commits a murder. The only witness
to the crime is the girlfriend of another businessman who happens to have
close ties to the Chinese government. As a result, a bodyguard from Beijing
(Jet Li, of course) is dispatched immediately to help two Hong Kong cops
protect the witness. Complications arise when the bodyguard and the witness
develop romantic feelings for one another.
