This seldom-seen
movie has the reputation as one of the best blaxploitation pics of them
all. It's got "French Connection" style locations, great performances,
meanspirited yet cathartic violence and some incredible action sequences.
The story, as directed by actor Ossie Davis, deals with a black soldier,
Gordon Hudson (Winfield), who comes home to Harlem after a stint in Vietnam.
To his disappointment · and boiling anger · he discovers that
his wife had become a heroin addict and died from an overdose while he
was away. Infuriated, he recruits three of his GI buddies for an all-out
war against the drug dealers who now control the streets of Harlem.
