TV scriptwriter Barry Pollack started his career with this zesty blaxploitation
vehicle (filled with sly winks to the black community about black pride
and the stupidity of white folks). Thalmus Rasulala plays Sidney Lord
Jones, the ex-con leader of a criminal gang gathered in Los Angeles for
a major bank heist. They plan to steal jewels valued at 3 million dollars,
sell off the gems and then start a bank that caters to a black clientele.
The whole thing is loosely based on W.R. Burnett's classic novel, ASPHALT
JUNGLE.
An American
