She Talks With Her What?!

also known as: CHATTERBOX: IL SESSO PARLANTE [Chatterbox: Talking Sex] (Italian)

director: Tom Desimone
starring: Candice Rialson · Jane Kean · Larry Gelman · Arlene Martel · Perry Bullington · Rip Taylor

What can be said about this film? Crass. Juvenile. Politically incorrect (especially in 2018!), but very funny and it works. This legendary Grindhouse trashmania is especially enduring because of Candice Rialson and her brilliant interpretation of a difficult character, not to mention the assured direction from filmmaker Tom Desimone.

Here is the story of Penelope Pittman, a beauty shop hairdresser, with a talking vagina. One night, without warning - after she and boyfriend Ted are knock knees - Penelope's pussy starts talking up a storm, mostly insulting Ted's rather stale performance. He gets pissed (Ted thinks Penelope is somehow making fun of him) and leaves. Concerned, she goes to a psychiatrist, Dr Pearl. But he see dollar signs, and realizes this freakish oddity - with clever one-liners and a surprisingly good singing voice - could make a lot of money. He becomes her agent and starts booking her on a variety of TV shows. Penelope and 'Virginia' also record a hit disco song called "Wang Dang Doodle," pop up on the Dating Game, and star in a musical sex film [surrounded by dancing and singing men dressed in chicken costumes]. After much embarrassment for Penelope, the whole thing ends with an unexpected, rather welcomed denouement.

Candice Rialson was an American actress who played the wide-eyed innocent in many DriveIn pictures, including Mama's Dirty Girls, Pets, Moonshine County Express and Candy Stripe Nurses. She unexpectedly retired in 1979 but her fans remembered her fondly. Quentin Tarantino said he patterned the Bridget Fonda character in Jackie Brown after Candice. Sadly, Ms Rialson died at age 54 from liver disease in March 2006.
