Russian Ghost Story with Roots in Japanese Horror

Pavel
Ruminov is a Russian cult figure who became popular through a collection
of Internet shorts and music videos. He is also a strong exponent of
Japanese horror films and has promoted that cinema in Russia. It's no
surprise that this movie - his debut project - would borrow liberally
from J-Cinema. As a result, DEAD DAUGHTERS is
a stark departure from the stoic conservatism of traditional Russian
filmmaking.
The story is very similar to Hideo Nakata's RING,
as a young woman is targeted for supernatural vengeance after being
told a story by someone who is being stalked. Her name is Anna. She
is sitting in her car when a disheveled stranger jumps inside and demands
that she helps him escape. He says that he's being chased by the ghosts
of three murdered children who will kill him if he does anything bad.
After listening and dropping the stranger off elsewhere, Anna recounts
the ghost story to her friends, not realizing that the stranger is now
dead and the ghosts are watching her.
