From
the best-selling author Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty, Jackie
Brown, Justified TV series, et al) comes
an off-beat story of faith, love and exploitation. A former Franciscan
monk named Juvenal (Ulrich) is now working in a Los Angeles de-tox centre.
Some say he's actually hiding. Others say maybe the Catholic church
is keeping him out of circulation until they can figure out what to
do with him. Seemingly, after a missionary stay in Brazil, Juvenal has
developed a 'touch' that can heal. After personally seeing Juvenal cure
a woman's blindness, a defunct TV minister [and profiteer] Bill Hill
(Walken) decides to transform Juvenal into a star and himself rich in
the process. Meanwhile, right-wing religious zealot August Murray (Arnold)
wants Juvenal for his own church. But the young star is more interested
in a new sexual adventure with record promoter Lynn Faulkner (Fonda).
