This
is the story of Egon Schiele, one of the most important Austrian artists
of the 20th century. His liberal politics and controversial paintings
constantly put him at odds with the authorities. This film, concentrates
on the mayhem which engulfed Egon in 1912 when he was accused of pornography
and "disruption of public morals." Specifically, he
was arrested for painting erotic poses of an underage nymphet named
Tatjana and put on trail accordingly.
Sadly, this would be Herbert Vesely's final film. After its release,
he faced numerous censorship battles, mostly in Munich and Rome. The
movie eventually would find distribution in Europe and Japan (no USA
release), yet Vesely - claiming he had finally won the battle but
was exhausted by the war - retired. He would suffer from a stroke
and die in July of 2002 at age 71. He was survived by his wife of 40
years, Dany Mann (who also stars in this film).
A German/French

totally uncut version (96 min.), DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC, playable
on any American machine. Extras include trailers.
