Despite
the title, this is NOT a biopic of Hitler's mistress. Rather it's a film
set in contemporary Italy loosely based on the writings of the Marquis
De Sade (specifically 120 Days of Sodom) and Pier Paolo
Pasolini's SALO.
An Italian millionaire named Pier [presumably a homage to the aforementioned
director] hires five young people to engage in and act out sexual fantasies.
Each participant has a specific reason for entering into this arrangement
of becoming a sex slave. The film attempts to paint these people as 'everyman'
characters while insisting that anyone can be persuaded to degrade themselves
with the promise of attaining something worthwhile.
The
film has a nasty foundation that embraces sexual degradation, while emphasizing
rape, humiliation and depravity. It is not recommended for everyone. However
this is a well-photographed and shockingly different movie. Plus the performances
are distinctly engaging, especially Andrea Riva as the perverse ringleader,
Pier.
An
Italian film with English subtitles; widescreen uncut (82 min.);
for ALL REGIONS, playable on any American DVD machine.
Extras include selected trailers.
