Necrocity
is a city of nightly terrors, a place where the authorities reinforce
a state of mayhem to impose their cruel laws and brutality. While the
underground counterculture is only obsessed with carnal pleasures (i.e.
drinking, drugs and sex), news beaks of a huge heroin shipment gone missing.
This is indicative of a new horrific crimewave about to explode.
Pierre Clémenti's chaotic film is the bastard child of Jene Genet
and William S. Burroughs. It is a gleefully grotesque 'Freak-Out,'
colored in nauseating filters and bursting with double exposures. While
often incoherent, the plot unravels as a drug-infused nightmare rather
than a standard narrative. It is a sensory, cerebral experience that took
Pierre Clémenti seven years to complete. He was a French filmmaker/actor
best known for his work in the classic BELLE DE JOUR.
Genre fans will know him best as the co-star to Nico in the underground
film INNER
SCAR. Mr Clémenti died from liver cancer in December of
1999.
