This
is a serious attempt to tell the true story of the legendary scandal
at the Monza Convent in the early 16th Century. While the movie isn't
as sleazy as Bruno Mattei's earlier TRUE
STORY OF THE NUN OF MONZA, this one - complimented by the cinematography
of Dario Argento's collaborator Romano Albani and the music by maestro
Pino Donaggio - is a classic in the nunspoitation field, perhaps even
better than most anything else in that genre.
The
film is set inside a convent seemingly filled with sexually repressed
young nuns who have become obsessed with Giampaolo Osio, handsome young
nobleman who lives next door. Giampaolo is a lecherous womanizer. He
hates Sister Virginia because she originally came from a rich family
that owned most of the land around Monza, including his own property.
In a show of force, Giampaolo concocts a plan with corrupt priest Don
Arrigone to assault and rape Sister Virginia. She ends up pregnant but
continues the disreputable affair with Osio, leading to chaos and eventually
murder in the convent.
