Spanish/Mexican title ASESINO NOCTURNO (Night Killer)
director Fernando
Duran Rojas
Andres Garcia · Gregorio Casals · Edna Bolkan ·
Pedro Infante Jr · Alfredo Gutierrez
A man,
his identity hidden under a hat and trenchcoat, picks up a hooker at
the sleezy El Farol hotel. Upstairs, in a room, he cuts her throat and
stabs her to death. This is the first of numerous slasher attacks and
dead whores, punctuated by some absurd red herrings [including an inept
copycat killer]. Commander Alfredo Reyna (tough guy Andrés García)
- and his team - diligently follows the clues but eventually he puts
girlfriend Edna Montez (Edna Bolkan) in harm's way to catch the killer.
Grindhouse
meistro Fernando Duran Rojas delivers a Mexican slasher film here, ala
Giallo fashion. He helmed 101 movies from 1969 to retirement in 2008
(at age 78), working almost exclusively in either the Western or Crime
genre. He was probably best known for the nihilistic HOT SNAKE in 1974
and LAS BRACERAS (1981). Starlet Edna Bolkan made 125 films during her
30 year career, including DON'T
PANIC shot around the same time.
An
Mexican/Spanish film with optional ON/OFF English subtitles;
