Against
the backdrop of an increasingly-powerful police state, Miguel returns
to Buenos Aires Argentina. During a political demonstration, he is shot
by rogue cop Morea. To avoid a scandal, the police put Miguel in the hospital
as a John Doe. A concerned nurse discovers his true identity and contacts
Miguel's father and the Media. As tensions begin to flare on the outside,
Miguel - still in a coma - hears but cannot speak. He eventually manages
to rouse himself and escapes from captivity. But he is unprepared for
the ultimate confrontation with police detective Morea.
This
Argentinean atmospheric dystopian thriller was years ahead of its time,
yet decidedly accurate as a cautionary tale of political and police control.
Director Mosquera's camerawork is quite remarkable but the true high-point
is the wailing rock soundtrack from cult musician Charly Garcia (who also
stars as Miguel).
An
Argentinean film with optional ON/OFF English subtitles;
widescreen; uncut 110 minutes; NTSC DVD format, encoded for ALL REGION,
playable on any American DVD machine. Extras include theatrical trailers.
