A professional
hitman - plagued with a litany of horrendous memories - retires to
his colorless apartment but he soon starts hearing voices and is suffering
from severe headaches. Hoping to relieve the pressure, he begins hammering
nails into his skull. His mania continues to grow as his physical
mutations escalate. Then he takes the abuse to people around him.
This Russian X-treme
horror film was seemingly influenced by the Japanese cyber-punk genre,
especially Shinya Tsukamoto's TETSUO.
But it is also born from the stoic nihilism of Russian art. It is
the debut project for talented Andrey Iskanov [note: many International
& IMDB critics have mentioned that this filmmaker is a female;
decidedly incorrect information, perhaps assumed from the similarity
of Andrey and Audrey]. He is a 6'3" male, born in Khabarovsk,
Russia (1974), with medical training but a career in advertising.
He also plays The Boss in this movie. Mr Iskanov is interested in
"breaking as many cinematic taboos concerning violence and depravity
as possible." Yet - unlike many other X-treme filmmakers - he
strongly detests real cinematic violence towards animals.
Interestingly,
the only other Russian director to concentrate in this excessive movie
style is female Svetlana Baskova, best known for her GREEN
ELEPHANT, an ode to the most perverse, most disgusting elements
of the genre.
