This
film is adapted from Dido Sacchettoni's true-crime book, The Nights
of A Clockwork Orange, telling the story a criminal gang who
brought fear and torment to a rich suburb of Rome through a series of
deadly home invasions in the '90s. The ruthless team is led by Remo
Guerra, a policeman from Turin who ultimately justifies his wave of
terror, stemming from an unparalleled hatred of the victims which he
sees as rich well-off parasites. His less altruistic gang consists mostly
of mad wolves who enjoy feasting on the community, a madness that ultimately
leads to Remo's downfall.
Director
Claudio Calligari spent many years as a documentary filmmaker before
tackling this extraordinary project. Those years obviously fine-tuned
his vision into this masterpiece of a crime movie that won numerous
'Best Picture' awards, including one from the Italian Syndicate of Film
Journalists. Unfortunately, despite Claudio Calligari's success, he
was suffering from cancer which took his life in May 2015 at age 67.
