An Obscure French Adaptation of Mary Shelly's Famous Book

Original French title: FRANKENSTEIN UNE HISTOIRE D'AMOUR [Frankenstein: A Love Story]
a
lso known as THE FRENCH FRANKENSTEIN and FRANKENSTEIN A STORY OF LOVE AND DESTRUCTION

director: Bob Thenault
starring: Gerard Berner ˇ Karim Petersen ˇ Francoise Lugagne ˇ Gerard Boucaron ˇ Nicolas Silberg

Despite the disapproval of his relatives and professors, Count Victor Frankenstein accelerates experiments on corpses and animals in order to create life. Soon, finding it necessary to isolate himself to pursue the research, he remains firmly fixated on reanimating a human being, Once he succeeds, unexpected (and decidedly perverse) problems arise.

Bob Thenault was essentially a behind-the-scenes television technician throughout the sixties and seventies for French TV studios, usually acting as an assistant director or line-producer. This obscure production was the only time he sat in the director's chair. Actress Karim Petersen is best known for her role of Sala in Charles Matton's SPERMULA. She made very few feature films (under 10) but often worked on the Paris theatrical stage as Karine Lépine. Despite a promising career, Karim Petersen committed suicide in April 1982 after a domestic fight with husband, actor Paul Guers. She was 37 years old.

A French film with English subtitles; widescreen format (16:9), uncut (98 minutes), DVD encoded for ALL REGION NTSC WORLD FORMAT; extras include selected theatrical trailers.
