Renato
Polselli's Controversial Last Film with Rita Calderoni
Original
Italian Title: TORINO CENTRALE DEL VIZIO (Turin: Vice Central)
also known as LUST and TURIN: HEADQUARTERS
OF VICE
director: Renato Polselli (as Jones Brown) with Bruno Vani
starring: Rita Calderoni · Raul Martinez · Tony Matera
· Marina Daunia · Christina Hui · Emanuela Cannarsa
Rita
Calderoni plays a bored wife, desperately trying to spice up her marriage.
She is starving for affection. Her husband (Raul Martinez) understands
her frustration but is emotionally unable to help her. Instead, he attempts
to satisfy his wife by pimping her to wealthy men from Torino's upper
class. The plan is obviously a bad idea and - as such - soon spins out
of control, entangling them in a realm of deceit and paranoia.
Renato
Polselli wrote this film for Rita Calderoni, his long-time leading actress
(and muse) who declined his projects after starring in BLACK
MAGIC RITES AND SECRET ORGIES OF THE 14th CENTURY when he began
making sexually excessive movies (i.e., (REVELATIONS
OF A PSYCHIATRIST ON THE PERVERSE WORLD OF SEX and OSCENITA).
It would be her final picture with Polselli. Some critics wrote that
he had gone insane and "besides making unreleasable, extravagant
films brimming with toxic cultural taboos, he was impossible to work
with." TORINO would be his final theatrical
film. Renato usually signed his projects with the 'Ralph Brown' pseudonym,
but this time used 'Jones Brown' (possibly, as a nod to his scripter
Bruno Vani who was rumored to have lensed some segments of the movie).
Renato-Polselli died eccentric, but of natural causes at age 84 in October
of 2006..
