Initially,
the plot appears to be a simple case of blackmail, but the unlucky blackmailer
discovers his intended target is actually the wrong man, the identical
twin brother of the target, a crooked pharmacist who is having an affair
with his brother's wife. The adulterous pair - realizing they have happened
upon a good thing - recruit the blackmailer into a scheme to drive their
brother/husband insane. This involves (among other things) the twin pretending
to be his brother and picking up and sexually abusing a streetwalker (played
by the gorgeous Silvana Venturelli).
Spanish
director Xavier Seto made 25+ films, starting in 1952 and ending with
this movie in '69. He died in an automobile accident at age 43 a few months
after its release. Lead performer Larry Ward was an American actor who
specialized in character roles for U.S. television productions - appearing
in over 50 shows including Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, 77
Sunset Strip and The Fugitive - before finding a more lucrative
career starring in European films. He eventually made Hollywood is home
in the late Seventies, again returning to TV work (especially notable
for his role of General Rothaker in the M*A*S*H series). Mr Ward
died from cancer at age 60 in February 1985.
