Here
is the legendary groundbreaking, erotic drama about Eve, a youthful bride-to-be,
who takes a holiday to Yugoslavia with a cynical lesbian film critic that
leads to debauchery, murder, rape, debauched dinner with naked entertainers,
degradation with a dwarf and other highlights that were remarkable and
shocking to the cinema audiences of the early Seventies. This film is
often cited as one of the most influential monuments in the battle against
International censorship.
Gio Petre
is excellent in her role as Ann, the murderous yet complicated lesbian,
but the standout is Marie Liljedahl playing Eve, an utterly immoral character
who embraces corruption as if it were an ice cream Sunday, Many genre
fans will remember Marie from Massimo Dallamano's Dorian Gray and
Jess Franco's Eugenie, both made earlier in 1970. This film, ANN
AND EVE, would be her last film. Inexplicably, Marie Liljedahl
dropped from the public eye on her 21st birthday in 1971.
