TREASURE OF THE AMAZON (1985) Stuart Whitman/Emilio Fernandez
TREASURE OF THE AMAZON (1985) Stuart Whitman/Emilio Fernandez
1548DVD

FINALLY! The Fully Uncut 117 Minute Version!

director: Rene Cardona Jr
starring: Stuart Whitman · Donald Pleasence · Bradford Dillman · Sonia Infante · John Ireland
Emilio Fernandez · Jorge Luke · Hugo Stiglitz

Mexican cult director Rene Cardona Jr took his crew and a boatload of International genre actors to the wilds of South America for this incredible jungle adventure. Obviously, he was influenced by the mega-popular Italian exploitation films (EATEN ALIVE, NUDE AND SAVAGE, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, etc); and - in a surprising turn of events - managed to deliver a film that surpasses the Euro counterparts. It's filled with sudden violence, frenzied cannibals, killer crabs, and much much more. Lots of machismo and female nudity.

A ragtag group of adventurers - including a die-hard Nazi and a high-flying oil hunter - is led by a half-maddened grizzled treasure hunter named Gringo who wants a second chance to find the mythical treasure of the Amazon, after his first mission went terrible wrong.

Director Cardona also worked with Stuart Whitman in the "Reverend Jim Jones" expose GUYANA: CRIME OF THE CENTURY in 1979. Mr Cardona died from cancer at age 63 in 2003.
