A
Remarkable Umberto Lenzi Thriller from 1972
also known as AN IDEAL PLACE TO KILL and OASIS OF FEAR
(UK title)
director:
Umberto Lenzi
starring: Irene Papas · Ray Lovelock · Ornella Muti · Michael Bardinet
· Umberto D'Orsi
Italian director Umberto
Lenzi is best known for his revolutionary jungle cannibal movies EATEN
ALIVE BY CANNIBALS, DEEP
RIVER SAVAGES and CANNIBAL
FERROX, but it would be unfortunately (and unfair) to dismiss
his many other, highly significant contributions to the cult arena. He
also helmed some exceptional thrillers like HITCHER
IN THE DARK and this remarkable giallo from 1972.
Richard and Ingrid
are young British tourists on holiday in Italy.
They finance their trip by selling dirty pictures of Ingrid. After getting
caught and given 24 hours to get out of the country, they end up stranded
at the remote home of Barbara. At first - after catching them in her garage
trying to syphon gasoline - she panics, but soon Barbara encourages the
youngsters to stay and make themselves at home. The hippies initially
believe that the woman is simply attracted to them sexually and they encourage
her to get involved in sex games. The tables turn when they finally discover
her true motives.
