The Only
Feature Film Directed by The Beatles' Official Photographer!
·
director: Robert Freeman
starring:
Judy Huxtable · Esther Anderson · Marilyn Rickard · Kathy Simmonds
Here
is a film which was - perhaps - influenced by American International's
hit THREE
IN THE ATTIC of the same year but it remains wildly original in
the annals of cinema history. As the only feature film directed by Robert
Freeman, the Beatles' official photographer and art co-ordinator, this
movie remains a time capsule that vividly captures the Mod Scene of the
British sixties counterculture.
Four
young women kidnap a pop singer and hold him hostage in their huge see-through
dome-house by the seaside. Things turn ugly when his unscrupulous manager
and black gangster go looking for him.
