A film about
the real-life origins of Wing Chun, the martial arts discipline favored
by Bruce Lee and his master, Ip Man. The central character is Yim Wing
Chun, a young woman who lost her mother at a tender age and is now under
the guidance of Master Ng Mui, a fugitive during the corrupt Qing Dynasty.
Inspired by her master's Shaolin kung fu, she develops a new form of fighting
(that has since been named after her). The movie also deals lightly with
her romance and darkly with murder and assassination.
