A gangster boss - known as Hardball - gets released from an eight year prison term. The years inside have changed him. Despite his former ruthless life of blood and brute force, Hardball is determined to go straight now and vows to never get involved in the underworld again. He moves (with his two sisters) to a new town and establishes a renovation company with an old friend. But things aren't that simple... Hardball soon finds himself up against a rival gangster.
