Based on the ultra-popular Japanese manga by Kiminori Wakasugi which lampoons show business [in general] and the music biz [in particular]. Soichi moved to Tokyo to pursue his dream of becoming a musician playing stylish, Swedish-style pop. Instead, he finds himself the lead singer - costumed and grotesquely made-up as "the demon emperor" - for a death-metal band called Detroit Metal City (DMC). Although he hates the music and the lifestyle, Soichi has a genuine talent for it. The movie follows his journey as he tries to reconcile the two very different personalities fighting for identity inside him.
