Philippe of Spain sends the Duke of Riviera to Italy. The Duke is supposed
to enter into a friendly treaty with the powerful Borgia Family. Enroute,
the Duke is attacked and taken prisoner by Duccio and his gang of bandits.
Duccio steals the Duke's credentials and impersonates him in Rome. After
many meetings with the members of the Borgia Clan, Duccio begins an illicit
love affair with madam Lucreca Borgia. When the real duke finally arrives,
Duccio flees and the royal court is soundly embarrassed.
