Towards
the end of the Tang Dynasty, police deputies Jin and Leo(Kaneshiro and
Lau) tangle with Mei (Zhang), a feisty exotic dancer suspected of having
ties to a revolutionary faction known as the House of Flying Daggers.
Enraptured by her beauty, one of the deputies concocts a plan to save
her from capture in an upcoming sting operation. Jin takes the girl into
the North Country where they encounter horrendous opposition on all fronts.
The
three main actors, all acclaimed in the international arena, give stunning
performances of people torn between love and betrayal. The fight choreography
is staged by CHINESE GHOST STORY director Ching Siu-Tung (who also worked
in the same capacity for Zhang's HERO).
