Two troubled
people meet in a Hong Kong bar but their relationship blossoms despite
the language barrier between them. In an ACC interview with Christopher
Doyle (Asian Cult Cinema #46), he says - "It's called AWAY WITH WORDS
because that's what I do. It's a pun... 'Away with doing things with words.'
More specifically, getting words out of the way. That's what a cinematographer
does... translate words into images. That's my job." Further he comments
- "Yeah, that movie is autobiographical, it's kind of an accumulation
of various ideas that have obsessed me or interested me over the last
20-30 years."
