The mega hit
horror from Kiyoshi Kurosawa (the director of SEANCE, PULSE, CHARISMA
and many more). Police detective Takabe (Yakusho) is working on a serial-killer
case, complicated by a bothersome amount of conflicting clues. Motivation
and "type-of-killing" may be the same for each crime, but the modus operandi
would indicate that the murders are really the work of numerous copy-cat
killers. Detective Takabe theorizes that someone is orchestrating the
murders ("like a Charlie Manson") and he seeks the help of a psychiatrist,
Sukuma (Ujiki). Shortly after their conference, a new patient shows up
at Sukuma's office, a young man who claims to be suffering from amnesia.
The audience soon realizes that this patient is - in fact - the serial
killer, an expert in mind control.
